Parents & Guardians,

We have outlined below some important details about the First Communion Ceremony on Saturday.

Mass:

The mass will begin at 11.00a.m. sharp  on Saturday. The children should be in the church at 10.45a.m. at the latest. Seats to the front of the church are reserved for First Communion children and their parents. There is only room in these seats for 2 family members to sit with each communion child.

When the First Communion Mass is over the children will walk in a procession to the circle outside. We would ask everyone at the ceremony to wait until this procession has left the church before collecting the children

Parents with young children should keep them under supervision so as not to distract from the ceremony.  There are two rooms with windows and speakers at the back of the church which can be used.

Children should not bring parasols, gloves, books, beads, watches etc to the church, as these can be very distracting for them during the ceremony.

Photographs & Photographers: We would like to remind you that cameras or videos should not be used during the Ceremony.  Photographs can be taken outside the church before and after mass.  The school has arranged for a Professional Photographer to come on Monday next, May 16th at 9 a.m. for parents who want a studio type communion photograph.

Re Photographs on Monday:

All children can have a School Photograph or Communion Photograph taken on Monday. Children who want a Communion Photograph may wear their Communion clothes on Monday ( 2nd class will not be allowed out to play at 1st break). 2nd Class children may go home at 12 o’clock on Monday i.e. after the photographs. Children going home at 12 on Monday must be collected by a parent or other adult.

We hope you and your family have a pleasant day on Saturday.

Fr. David has asked us to remind parents about the Code of Dress expected in the church.

Code of Dress & Code Behaviour for the Church:

Please note the code of dress for the Church. Visitors to the Church should always have shoulders, chest and upper legs covered when entering the church in reverence to this Holy space.   This code is not to embarrass people but to make them more aware.  This dress code applies to everyone entering the church male and female alike. The code of dress has been in place since September 2008. We also ask visitors to the church to switch off mobile phones, to remain seated for the full ceremony and to bin chewing gum etc. before entering the church.
