Creative Schools Journey - Understand Phase
We had two great workshops with Ms.Naughter and Ms. Field’s fantastic Junior Infant classes back in November and December 2020. During these workshops, the children worked in pairs. We asked the children to think about what makes them feel most happy, the things they like to do that makes them feel most like “ME”. During the workshop, the children chatted with their partner while they worked on a drawing, a self-portrait of themselves doing something that they liked doing best. At the end of the workshop, we had a mini-exhibition.
Clodagh, our Creative Associate, then met some of Ms. Naughter’s class the following day to hear more about the children’s portraits from their partners – a nice listening exercise for all of the children. From these wonderful drawings we learned about some of the activities that make the children feel happy; playing football with friends, going to parties, gardening, playing with brothers and sisters, and going to the beach with their family.
The drawings showed us how much the children love to be with friends and family and how being active and outdoors makes them feel great!
Clodagh: "I am really looking forward to meeting Ms. Field’s fantastic junior infant class once more to learn more from them about their self-portraits".
For now, here are some of the portraits from Ms. Naughter and Ms. Field's Junior Infant’s class.
