Stepping Stone Forest sprucing up day!
We had a super group of people out today including our wonderful Caretaker Kevin, John from Stepping Stone Forests, and a few willing parent volunteers to help clear the weeds that have made their home over the last few months in our new stepping stone forest.
The children came out to assess the work of the volunteers and gave them a super thumbs up and well done for all their hard work clearing away the weeds so our baby forest can continue to grow. There are over 500 native Irish trees planted here and this makes for a lovely home for some interesting wildlife.
The children were on a mission to collect some beautiful autumn-coloured leaves for our classroom 'treasure box'. John was on hand to point out the names and species of trees growing and the children were also fascinated to find some hazelnuts for scavenging! Let's see what artistic creations we can come up with back in the classroom for October's theme: Autumn! Watch this space....
