Stepping Stone Forest thriving in its 1st year!
We are very lucky here at St. Mary's to have our very own Stepping Stone Forest and since its initial planting in February 2023 we have seen an explosion of nature's finest 500+ native Irish trees on the grounds of our school. The children have been enjoying watching the birds, butterflies, bees, wildflowers and fascinating creatures make it their home.
John Kiberd and Niall from Stepping Stone Forests dropped in today to see its progress and give the willow-weaved entrance a little sprucing up. John had high hopes for the success of this project last October when we prepared the ground with the children for planting in February. John labels our wonderful forest one of "the best growths" he's seen in all the various lucky schools around Dublin that have their own baby stepping stone forests.
The forest is a wonderful and intriguing place to bring the children and an extension of the classroom for sharing teaching and learning experiences across the whole curriculum!
