What happened in Creative Schools this week!
Tuesday, April 20th brought a visit from Pat Hunt a Gardening and Biodiversity Specialist who brought the 1st classes on an adventure around the school grounds to explore signs of Spring. He introduced the children to the different flora and fauna and wildflowers growing on the school grounds and the trees and other plants in the area and also explained and explored the importance of pollinators. A number of parents then joined Pat on a walking information tour of the school grounds. We are eager to continue building relationships with parents on our creative journey.
Pat will revisit next Tuesday, April 27th to begin planning together our Sensory Garden with nature and sustainability in mind. He has a deep knowledge of food growing, plants that support wildlife and how to design beautiful spaces that fulfil a range of functions for schools in particular.
Clodagh our Creative Associate visited on Friday, April 23rd to check-in with how everyone is getting on in Week 1 of Creative Schools Term 3. Clodagh ran a workshop for the 1st classes to introduce them to the idea of exploring their creativity and imagining our creative dreams as a school. During the workshop snippets of the RTE Creative Kids documentary were shown to offer inspiration and ideas. Children voted on their favourite activities as well as adding anything they felt could be implemented here at St. Mary’s over the next year.
